The 12th Central European Pragmatist Forum
“Pragmatism as Global Philosophy”
The meeting will be held at the University of Vienna, 10 – 14 June 2024. In 2024, about 30 participants, distributed evenly between Europeans and Americans, will gather to discuss their work. The theme of the meeting is “Pragmatism as Global Philosophy,” which is intended to support a wide range of related topics.
Participants in the Forum are by invitation only. All participants will give papers, and all sessions will be plenary.
The keynote speaker for 2024 will be Dr. Leonard Harris, Professor and Joyce and Edward E. Brewer Chair in Applied Ethics at Purdue University. Dr. Harris Editor of Philosophy Born of Struggle (1983) and three books on the philosopher Alain Locke. Harris is the author of “struggle philosophy,” an approach to philosophy that is different from the Socratic dialogue method, the ethics of insurrection, critical pragmatism, advocacy aesthetics and the concept of racism as “necro-being.” A graduate of Central State University, Ohio, and Cornel University, Harris is a professor of philosophy at Purdue University, Board member of the Philosophy Born of Struggle Association and the Alain L. Locke Society.
